Unit 1 Critical Thinking

Reading

Know Thyself

Critical thinking

a. Have you made your own precept after you read this lesson? What is it? Share it with your friends.

Precept simply means a rule, code, doctrine and guidelinen intended to regulate behaviour or thought. They are generally little life lessons that are usually passed down to children by authority figures such as parents, teachers, or religious figures.
Ofcourse, I have made some precepts after I read this lesson “Know Thyself”. They are as follows:

  •  Protect and preserve human life.
  •   Educate essential for children.
  •   Know and worship God.
  •  Save nature and save life.
  •  Promote collabarative learning.
  • Being honest and kind.
  • Beleive in hard work.

b.  According to Josh Lanyon, “If there was one life skill everyone on the planet needed, it was the ability to think with critical objectivity.” Justify this statement with your logic.

According to Josh Lanyon, “If there was one life skill everyone on the planet needed, it was the ability to think with critical objectivity.”  It is critical thinking which enables people better to express their thoughts, ideas, and beliefs and it fosters creativity and out-of-the-box thinking that can be applied to any area of the life.

By the given quote, Josh Lanyon states that creative-thinking is the best thing that people wants as it helps them to look at things from various or different perspectives. It expands thinking capacity of the people and brings new ideas and better ideas in them which help to handle the difficult situation gently. By enhancing comprehensions abilities, it provides a single solution and one life skill that supports to look at problems and situations from a fresh perspective. Thus, the ability to think with critical objectivity is only one life skill everyone needs on this planet.

Subject: An interesting incident happened in the class.

Dear Srijan,
I am writing this mail to inform you about an interesting incident that took place in my class as I was studying in Grade 6.
It was the year 2072 B.S. I was in my class and everything was going as per our daily school routine.
We had a huge school building and lucky us we were on the ground floor! We were studying maths in our 4th period when the incident took place. Yes! An earthquake hit our school building. I was sitting on the first bench and suddenly I saw ceiling fans, and tube lights in front of me started to and soon I found I was not the only one rather the whole class saw all this.
Everyone panicked and just wanted to run towards the sports ground. But! We were in school and we had to go out in a line. Make way for others first. But the most interesting fact took place as our math teacher  himself ran out of the building before anyone.  I remember chanting Hanuman Chalisa and Gyayatri Mantra on my way out.
Thanks to Pawan Putra Hanuman and Gyayatri Mantra  that I along with everyone got saved and also special thanks to the makers of Sagarmatha Cement which didn't let the building collapse.
It was the most exciting and interesting incident I ever experienced in my school life.
   Sincerely,
   Sanjana  Dhital
