Nepali movie ‘Jhola’ is a movie made on a popular book by the same name by literary figure, Krishna Dharabasi. The plot set on the Nepali society of the time about a century ago. The movie directed by Yadav Kumar Bhattarai features Garima Pant, Desh Bhakta Khanal, Deepak Chhetri, Laxmi Giri, Pralhad Khatiwada in main roles. The movie made on the banner of Media for Culture Pvt. Ltd. was made after an extensive research on the topic for about 7 years. Based on the novel, Late Deepak Alok had written the script of the movie – keeping the core of the book intact. The movie can be categorized as a historical art movie.
STORY
The movie presents the height of violence against women in ancient Nepal – Sati tradition. In ‘Jhola’ an young woman (Garima Pant) is married to a man 40 years senior to her. When her husband dies, Garima is kept to be burned alive with the dead body of her husband. She escaped the fire and hides in a cave. You can watch the movie to know what happens to Garima and how her small son helps her.
STRENGTH AND WEAKNESS
Although there are places for improvement, the scenes in the movie seem realistic and historical. The movie depicts the environment of East Nepal at the time of 100 years ago. The movie uses long shot to present realistic views of the time. The movie features traditional tools like dhiki, janto, madani, ranko, diyalo and so on.
The young people could get a glimpse of our past and the old people can feel the time they have went through in their childhood. So, both young and the old can enjoy the movie. In addition to Sati tradition, the movie also touches slavery (Kamara Kamari) tradition.
The cinematography is one of the best aspect of the movie. The director has also taken care to present the ancient environment. Most of the lighting during the shooting were also made by traditional lights like ranko, diyalo and fire place light. The dress used by the characters were also sewn by hand.  Background music was also composed of leaf music and traditional tunes. The director says that none of the artists have done make up. To make the characters natural, they had carried cow dung, dug in fields, carried water and the natural dirt was used to make the characters real.
STAR CAST
Garima Pant and the child artist have done a very realistic acting. Other actors have also justified their character. In a report, Garima got sick after the shooting of the scene in which she runs away by swimming in the river. Garima told that throughout the shooting she didn’t take a bath or applied makeup.
The director Yadav Bhattarai is a well known name in directing Nepali music videos. After directing about 900 music videos Yadav decided to make the movie on the story he read some 11 years ago. He read the book in BS 2059 and got the permission to make movie on it in BS 2063 from Dharabasi. The script writer Deepak Alok had died four years prior to the release of the movie.
CONCLUSION
‘Jhola’ is a historical movie to get a glimpse of the time of our fore fathers. The movie is a mirror of violence against women in ancient time. Apart from the entertainment, the movie offers insights into history, culture and tradition. ‘Jhola’ has it’s share of shortcomings but, it is a good historical movie. If you like fight, singing and dance, and fun in movies – this might not be the one you would love to watch.

Subject: Complaint regarding the quality of the headphones
Dear Sir,
I am writing this mail to inform you that I purchased a headphone at Suman Electronics on Monday, 22nd April,2021.
While buying the product, the staffs assured me that it was an advanced and new headphone with many qualities. They said that they offer headphone with powerful deep bass (like Monster Beats) and visceral dynamic range and there is no better sound quality in others than that. Furthermore, they added that their users told them they listen to music or watch movies with our headphones while at the office, at home, walking on the street, or while traveling in airplanes. Therefore, I may test the headphones for 30 days without risk if any problem arise it can be replaced easily. So, take advantage of our fantastic product from now paying its cost $99. I had heard the most reputable name and fame of your Electronics in the city for its original gadgets.
Later,  I arrived home I discovered that the headphone wasn’t working. With in 2 hours, I returned to your electronic shop again to replace it. Unfortunately, the staffs refused to replace the headphones or return my money although I provided the receipt. They behave badly to me. I’m deeply disappointed about the quality of the product and the disrespectful treatment I received in your store.
I trust this is not the way that a reputed electronic store wishes to conduct business with valued customers—I have been with you and buying the products from store since the store was founded and have never encountered such treatment before. I would request you to discuss matters further and to learn from this how to prevent a similar situation from recurring.
I expect a letter of explanation as well as refund of my money by resolving this. Otherwise, I will have to take a step further for decisive actions.
Sincerely,
Sanjana Dhital

Alfred Nobel
A pacifist at heart and an inventor by nature, Swedish chemist Alfred Nobel invented dynamite. He was sure his creation would help bring about the end of war. “When two armies of equal strength can annihilate each other in an instant”, he once wrote, “then all civilised nations will retreat and disband their troops”. Things didn’t quite go according to plan. ,
The invention that he thought would end all wars was seen by many others as an extremely deadly product. In 1888, when Alfred’s brother Ludvig died, a French newspaper mistakenly ran an obituary for Alfred which called him the “merchant of death”. Not wanting to go down in history with such a horrible epitaph, Nobel created a will that soon shocked his relatives and established the now famous Nobel prizes.
According to his will, Alfred Nobel’s enormous fortune was to be used to establish prizes to award those who had done their best to benefit mankind in the field of physics, chemistry, medicine, literature and peace. The first Nobel Prizes were awarded in 1901, five years after Nobel’s death. Nobel initially donated 35 million Swedish Kronor (about $225 million today); the prizes come from the fortune’s annual interest.
The Nobel Laureates are announced at the beginning of October each year. A couple of months later, on 10th December, the anniversary of Alfred Nobel’s death, they receive their prize from the Swedish King – a Nobel Diploma, a medal and 10 million Swedish crowns per prize. All Nobel prizes are awarded in Stockholm, Sweden, except for the Nobel Peace Prize which is awarded in Oslo, Norway.
Each award is decided by separate institutions which form assemblies to select the actual prize recipients. Some prizes (medicine) require Nobel assembly members to remain active in their fields, while others (literature) appoint members for life. The Peace prize is actually decided by five members of the Norwegian Parliament. Nobel Prize winners must be living; there are no posthumous awards. Each year, the Nobel committees distribute nomination forms to an undisclosed number of recipients – past winners, prominent institutions, respected members of the field – who are allowed to choose as many nominees as they want. Self-nomination is not permitted. The winner is decided by a simple majority vote.

PM Oli, Indian PM Modi Jointly Inaugurate Cross-Border Petroleum Pipeline
RSS
Kathmandu, Sept 10: The much awaited interstate petroleum pipeline project has been inaugurated today. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi jointly inaugurated the project from the respective countries.
A programme was organized at Singh Durbar for the PM Oli and at Hyderabad House for Indian PM Modi to switch on the project together as the inauguration via the video conference. With the inauguration, petroleum product has arrived in Amlekhgunj, Nepal from India's Motihari. The pipeline is the first cross border project in South Asia.
For the first phase, diesel is brought and petrol and kerosene later. The Amlekhgunj Motihari stretch is 69.2 km long.
The pipeline supplies nearly 4,000 kl petroleum product every day, the project said. With the cross border project in place, more than Rs 2 billion is saved which was earlier spent on it transportation.
Similarly, as the import cost declined, the price of the petroleum products has been slashed by Nepal Oil Corporation.
The NOC cut the price of diesel, petrol and kerosene by Rs 2 per litre. Of the total diesel consumed in the country, 70 percent is supplied from Amlekhgunj.
A high level technical team including NOC Executive Director is at Amlekhgung in course of the project inauguration. The NOC and Indian Oil Corporation had agreed in 2004 to construct the interstate pipeline project. It was however stalled for a decade on various reasons.
In August 2015, then Minister for Commerce and Supply, Sunil Bahadur Thapa, and his Indian counterpart Dharmendra Pradhan had signed for the construction of the project. Both Nepal and India had special interest on completion of the project.
Similarly, PM Oli and the Indian PM Modi had jointly laid the foundation stone to the pipeline in New Delhi during Oli's visit to India.
The project cost is 2.75 billion Indian currencies.
The programme organized to inaugurate the project at Singha Durbar was attended by Cabinet members, secretaries of various ministries and high level officials of the government.

Informal Email

Hi Samia,

Just a quick email to say that sounds like a great idea. Saturday is better for me because I'm meeting my parents on Sunday. So if that's still good for you, why don't you come here? Then you can see the new flat and all the work we've done on the kitchen since we moved in. We can eat at home and then go for a walk in the afternoon. It's going to be so good to catch up finally. I want to hear all about your new job!

Our address is 52 Charles Road, but it's a bit difficult to find because the house numbers are really strange here. If you turn left at the post office and keep going past the big white house on Charles Road, there's a small side street behind it with the houses 50–56 in. Don't ask me why the side street doesn't have a different name! But call me if you get lost and I'll come and get you.

Let me know if there's anything you do/don't like to eat. Really looking forward to seeing you!

See you soon!

Gulliver’s Travels is Jonathan Swift’s most famous satire written in four books. It’s about Gulliver’s voyage to Lilliput and Brobdingnag. It is a satire on man and his institution in the form of tale of travel. In the first part Gulliver, a ship’s surgeon is shipwrecked on the island Lilliput, whose inhabitants are dwarf about six inches high. Everything else on the island is on the same small size. Because of their little size, their pride(pomp) and snobbery(pageantry), fights, duels, and wars in  their neighbors look ridiculous. The political and religious wars of English in Swift’s time are satirized in the quarrels of Lilliputians between the Big-endians and Little- endians on the earth-shaking question whether eggs should be broken on their big or little ends.

In the second part of his journeys, he finds himself in Brobdingnag whose in habitants are giant sized and everything else on that scale. The king of Brobdingnag after hearing about Gulliver’s country, thinks that people there, must be the most hateful creatures on the earth. The third part relates his visit to the flying island of Laputa , the neighboring continent and its capital Lagado. One professor has been working eight hours trying to extract sunshine from cucumbers. His bitterness and misanthrope rise to a climax in the forth part which describes the country of Houyhunms. There the horses are with more reason and wisdom than the Yahoos, the most disgust, depraved (bad) specimen of humanity.

Environmental Pollutions

Environmental pollution refers to the introduction of harmful pollutants into the environment. The major types of environmental pollution are air pollution, water pollution, noise pollution. thermal pollution, soil pollution and light pollution.

Deforestation and hazardous gaseous emission also lead to environmental pollution. During the last 10 years, the world has witnessed severe rise in environmental pollution. We all live on planet earth, which is the only planet known to have an environment, where air and water are two basic things that sustain life.

Without air and water the earth would be like the other planets — no man, no animals. no plants. The biosphere in which living beings have their sustenance has oxygen, nitrogen, carbon dioxide, argon and water vapor. All these are well balanced to ensure and help a healthy growth of life in the animal world. This balance does not only help the life-cycles of animals and plants but it also creates the perennial sources of minerals and energies without which the human civilization of to-day could not be built.

The sources and causes of environmental pollution include the following: Industrial activities: The industries all over the world that brought prosperity and affluence, made inroads in the biosphere and disturbed the ecological balances. The pall of smoke, the swirling gases, industrial effluents and the fall-out of scientific experiments became constant health hazards, polluting and contaminating both air and water. The improper disposal of industrial wastes are the sources of soil and water pollution.

The smoke emitted by vehicles using petrol and diesel and the cooking coal also pollutes the environment. The multiplication of vehicles. emitting black smoke that, being free and unfettered, spreads out and mixes with the air eve breathe. The harmful smoke of these vehicles causes air pollution. Further, the sounds produced by these vehicles produces causes noise pollution. Rapid urbanization and industrialization: The urbanization and the rapid growth of industrialization are causing through environmental pollution the greatest harm to the plant life, which in turn causing harm to the animal kingdom and the human lives. Population overgrowth: Due to the increase in population, particularly in developing countries, there has been surge in demand for basic food, occupation and shelter. The world has witnessed massive deforestation to expand absorb the growing population and their demands.

There surely cannot be any radical solution, for the existing factories  cannot be bodily lifted to a place far from the populated zone. However. the following attempts can be made to solve the problem of environmental pollution. The Government can at least see that future factories are set up at a distant place, an industrial complex far away from the township. Researchers may find out how to avoid harmful smoke from running vehicles. Deforestation should be stopped and forestry should be devolved. Discharge of factory wastes in rivers should be banned so as to make the river-water free from pollution. We can very well notice the abnormal behaviour of the seasons - the cycle developing clogs in its wheels; and the worried experts fear that the disturbed balance in the biosphere has assumed such serious proportion that very soon our world would be uninhabitable like Hiroshima of 1945. But it is heartening to find the entire world is aware of the menace. Some of the advanced countries have already taken some measures to meet it. If we fail to restore the ecological balance right now, it would be too late tomorrow.

Electronic Junk Mail

You would have seen an increasing amount of “junk mail” showing up in your e-mail box. The so-called harmless activities of a small number of people are increasingly becoming a serious problem for the Internet. Spam is the flooding of the Internet with many copies of the same message, in an attempt to force the message on people who would not otherwise choose to receive it.
Spam is basically electronic junk mail or junk newsgroup postings. It is sometimes confused with any unsolicited e-mail. But an old friend may also find your e-mail address on the Net and send you a message but this could hardly be called spam, even though it is unsolicited. Real spam is generally e-mail advertising for some product sent to a  mailing list or newsgroup. In addition to wasting people’s time with unwanted e-mail, spam also eats up a lot of network bandwidth. There are many organisations and individuals who have taken it upon themselves to fight spam with a variety of techniques. The problem is that because the Internet is public, there is very little that can be done to prevent spam, just as it is impossible to prevent junk mail.

One of the most recent examples of large-scale spamming was the hoax Ericsson e-mail about a free give away, something most people just cannot resist. The letter begins with a claim that since Nokia is giving away telephones, Ericsson will respond by giving away brand new WAP phone. But the recipient must forward the letter to a minimum of 20  people to receive the phone. The letter is signed by Anna Swelund, Executive Promotion Manager for Ericsson Marketing. It was later discovered that there was no such person at Ericsson. There are numerous instances of these e-mails being used maliciously by someone who has a grudge against an ex-spouse, a public official, a former teacher or someone else with an e-mail address. The person mentioned in the e-mail ends up with thousands of requests from people looking for confirmation that the e-mail—which they actually had nothing to do with—is true.
Spamming works on our own greed to receive freebies. You are instructed by a total stranger (or a well meaning but not very bright friend) to forward a message you know  nothing about, except for the fact that maybe a friend passed it along to you and about 90 of their other very close friends. Very often the victim can receive so many e-mails (and sometimes faxes and phone calls in the more malicious cases) that they have to get a new e-mail box or phone number— thereby ruining established personal and professional communication channels, which was the original intent of the sender.

Most spam is commercial advertising, often for dubious products, get-rich-quick schemes, or quasi-legal services. It costs the sender very little to send—most of the costs are paid for by the recipient or the carriers rather than by the sender.
There are two main types of spam, and they have different effects on internet users.  Cancellable Usenet spam is a single message sent to 20 or more Usenet newsgroups. Usenet spam is aimed at “lurkers”, people who read newsgroups but rarely or never post and give their address away. Usenet spam robs users of the utility of the newsgroups by overwhelming them with a barrage of advertising or other irrelevant posts.

Furthermore, Usenet spam subverts the ability of system administrators and owners to manage the topics they accept on theft systems. E-mail spam targets individual users with direct mail messages. They typically cost users money out-of-pocket to receive. Most of us read or receive our mail through dial-up accounts while the meter is running, so to speak. There is not much really that can be done to protect yourself except that you can  ensure your relative safety by creating internet e-mail accounts like Hotmail or Yahoo which can be easily and frequently changed. Further, these accounts also generally offer the option of blocking senders from whom you get spam and you can also opt to block e-mail which has been copied to more than 20 people. One can also keep oneself informed about spammers through the Blacklist of Internet Advertisers, a popular report that describes the offending activities of spammers that routinely distribute large mailings via e-mail or post unwelcome advertising on newsgroups. You can also visit www.spam.abuse.net.
Another organisation devoted to countering the destructive effects of spam is MAPS or the Mail Abuse Prevention System. If an offending spammer cannot be shut down, the  spammer’s ISP may contact MAPS with the subnet addresses allocated to the spammer so those specific addresses may be used instead of the IP address of the entire ISP. The MAPS website at http://mail-abuse.org will yield more useful information on how to counter and control spam.
